Solar power is the transformation of energy from sunlight into electrical energy. It can be done either directly by using a photovoltaic cell or indirectly by using concentrated solar power or a combination of both. A concentrated solar power system uses lenses, mirrors or solar tracking systems to focus a huge amount of sunlight into a small beam. The photovoltaic effect is used to convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic cell.
Working of Solar Panels
When photons strike a solar cell, they hit electrons to become free from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the +ve and -ve sides of a cell, it forms an electrical circuit. When electrons drift through such a circuit, they produce electricity. Such multiple cells combine to make up a solar panel, and the collection of multiple panels (modules) can be wired together to form a solar array. More panels you can deploy, more energy you can expect to generate. Photovoltaic (PV) Solar cells are made of semiconductors, like silicon. They are fabricated with a positive layer and a negative layer, which together create an electric field, just like in a battery.
Generation of Electricity PV solar cell panels generates direct current (DC) electricity. With DC electricity, electrons flow in single direction about a circuit. The electrons move from the negative side of the battery, through a lamp, and return to the positive side of the battery. The figure below shows an example of a solar panel powering a light bulb.
For the requirement of AC (alternating current) electricity, electrons are pushed and pulled, periodically in reversing direction. Solar panels produce DC electricity. To get DC electricity into the AC grid, an inverter is used.
Solar Inverter A solar inverter receipts the DC electricity from the solar cell array and uses that to create AC electricity. Inverters are the brains of the solar system. Besides inverting DC to AC power; inverters are also responsible for ground fault security. Central inverters have dominated the solar industry from the start. The introduction of micro-inverters is one of the biggest technology shifts in the PV industry. Separate micro-inverters use for individual solar panels, not for an entire solar system, as central inverters do. This enables every solar panel to perform at full potential. When a central inverter is used, if there is a problem on one solar panel can affect the performance of the entire solar array.
How Does a Solar Panel System Works

The alternator is coupled to a belt that is spun by the motion of the engine, that motion allows the alternator to produce electricity. That electrical power is then used to run all electrical systems in your equipment (ex a car), including lights, feeding the spark plugs and keeping the battery charged. Alternator failure will surely mean that your equipment will not be able to start, as the battery will be drained.
Generally, wiring doesn’t fail unless some outside factor acts on it, such as a mouse biting into it. However if the wiring becomes lose it could end up frayed or otherwise damaged, which will cause the system to malfunction or fail.
Most of the systems in your vehicle utilize a fuse that prevents too much voltage from hitting it, which causes damage to the component. If excessive electricity goes through the fuse of a certain system, it will blow, which means the electrical path will be broken. Replacing fuses is often a fast and cheap solution.
Electrical relays are on/off switches. If a relay becomes stuck in one position it can obviously cause trouble. For example, if a fuel pump relay is stuck in the on the position that means gas will be continually fed to the motor, even the key is off. This will cause damage to the fuel pump and drain the battery.
