Set up iCloud Drive

Documents that you store in iCloud Drive stay up to date across all of your devices, and you can access them from your iPhone, iPad, and PC. the iCloud Drive is a company’s way to help you manage your files. You can store all your files in iCloud, Apple’s cloud storage service. After you set up iCloud Drive, documents that you’ve already stored in iCloud will be automatically moved to iCloud Drive.

What is iCloud Drive?

It is a part of a cloud storage service that was launched in 2011. It lets you store all your stuff in one place. It also allows us to make new files and folders. Apple constantly updates the iCloud drive with new features.

How much is iCloud storage?

You can store any type of file in iCloud drive if it is less than 50GB in size. When you sign up for iCloud you get free storage of 5GB for mail, iCloud backup. You can upgrade your iCloud storage plan from your iPhone or PC at any time.

See how much iCloud storage you’re using:

1. On your iPhone, go to Settings >“your name”> iCloud.

2. To see more detailed information about apps and services, tap iCloud Storage or Manage Storage.

3. On your PC, go to Apple menu  > System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud. 

4. To see more detailed information about how apps and services, click Manage.

5. On your PC, open iCloud for Windows.

6. On a supported browser, sign in to iCloud.com, then click Settings.

Make more space available in iCloud

If you run out of iCloud storage, your device won’t back up and new photos and videos won’t upload to iCloud Photos, and iCloud Drive, other iCloud apps, and text messages won’t stay up to date. Also, you can’t send or receive emails with your iCloud email address

Before you begin

1. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the latest iOS or iPad, and your Mac to the latest macOS.

2. Set up iCloud on all of your devices.

3. Make sure that you’re signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on all of your devices.

4. If you have a Windows PC, update to Windows 7 or later and download iCloud for Windows.

Get started

Set up iCloud Drive everywhere where you want to access and edit your files.

On your iPhone

1. Go to Settings > [your name].

2. Tap iCloud.

3. Turn on iCloud Drive.

4. You can find your Drive files in the Files app

On your Windows PC

After you set up iCloud Drive on your iPhone, you can set it up on your Windows PC.

1. Go to Start, open Apps, and open iCloud for Windows.

2. Enter your Apple ID to sign in to iCloud.

3. Select iCloud Drive, then click Apply.

iPhone and iPad

1. Go to Settings > [your name].

2. Tap iCloud.

3. Turn on iCloud Drive.

4. You can find your iCloud Drive files in the Files app

iCloud.com

1. Sign in to iCloud.com.

2. Select Pages, Numbers, or Keynote. 

3. Click Upgrade to iCloud Drive, if you are asked to upgrade.

How to get an app from icloud?

1. Open the Settings app on your device.

2. Tap on the “Apple ID” > “iCloud”.

3. Turn on “iCloud” Drive to get the iCloud Drive app and to make it appear on the Home screen.
