The NVSP (National Voters Service Portal) portal was developed with the aim to provide single window service to electors. Through it, electors can have access to various services like access to the electoral list, application for voter id card, correction for voter id through online mode, to have access to voting details of polling booth, parliamentary and assembly constituency, and contact details of booth level officer, electoral registration officer, etc. The election commission of India has put efforts to provide all the possible support services to electors with the help of IT tools that have created this postal service.

The portal was launched on 25 January in the year 2015 on National Voter’s Day. It’s an online service provided to Indian citizens. It provides immense use to NRI Nonresidents of India. The portal provides online registration facilities related to online electoral registration which is for new voters, overseas voters, correction in the information, change in the address, to search name on the electoral list, etc. Since independence, free and fair elections have been held at regular intervals as per the principles enshrined in the constitution.


 Through this portal, citizens can check their names on the electoral list.

 Can make corrections in the electoral roll or list.

 Citizens can track their application status.

 It is a user-friendly interface for citizens to increase transparency.

 It helps to provide information to citizens in an easy manner.

 It helps to apply online for registration of new voters.

 It helps to give print-out of the voter’s information.

 It aims to provide better electoral services to citizens of India.

 Improves communication between voters and commission.


 Visit the official website of the portal.

 Click on the option of registering online for the new voters.

 Form no.6 will appear on the screen.

 Fill the necessary details which include the name, father’s name, age, date of birth, address, etc.

 Choose the state, assembly, parliamentary constituency.

 Then, upload the required documents.

 Then, enter the place and date of filing of the form.

 Click on the submit option.

There are following steps which are given below to check the online status of an application for voter id-:

1. Visit the website of the nvsp portal

2. Then, log in through the credentials.

3. On the webpage reference id have to be entered.

4. Then, click on the track status button.

The status of the voter id will be displayed.


• First visit the official website of the election commission.

• Then, click on the form no. 6 to apply online to register for voter id.

• Enter the basic details like age, gender, name, etc.

• Then enter the details of the address.

• After entering all the necessary details, upload the required documents like identity proof, and address proof to complete the enrollment process.

• Then, an application number will be sent on the registered mobile number or on email –id.

• Application number can be used to check the status of voter id.

• Then, it will be uploaded on the website and click on the download option to get a copy of the newly generated election card.




This form is for the inclusion of names for the voter list or electoral list. It is an important form to be filled by the citizen of India in order to get voter id for giving the vote. As it’s our right to vote for a better and good government and governance of our country. To have your name in the voter’s list, it is necessary to fill this form and get yourself registered.


This form is for making corrections if any in the information provided for the electoral roll. It can be filled after the draft publication of the electoral roll of the constituency. Specific days are given for filling the application form.


This form is for transposition of entry from one part of the electoral roll to another part of the electoral roll of the constituency. It is to fill after the draft publication of the electoral roll. The form is to be filled within the time period or days provided. Only one copy of the application has to be filled. The form can be filled throughout the year even when the program for revision is not going on.


NVSP certificate is provided by downloading it. The voter’s verification program was started by the government to get access to the voter’s details and the family. A mobile app is also launched by nvsp and verification can be done through mobile app also and a certificate is provided tot hose who are doing through the mobile apps.
