The inaugural season of the new venture of American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, Ratched, told as much as it entertained, and we expect season 2 of Ratched to do the same. Sarah Paulson’s understated and disturbing depiction of brutally talented nurse Mildred Ratched just left us wanting more, though as gruesome and titillating as we have come to expect from Murphy’s larger-than – life universes.
Netflix subscribers seem to believe that 48 million subscribers watched season 1 of Ratched, making it the biggest streaming channel TV show release to date in 2020. Ratched season 2, hotly awaited.
Closing the first season on an agonising cliffhanger, all minds are now turning to the next time we see Ratched again in action. In addition to announcing that a new series is indeed on the way, Murphy and co-creator Evan Romansky have been vague about what’s next in store for the people we met at Lucia State Hospital, but we have gathered everything we know so far about the highly awaited second series to save you rooting around the internet. Nurse Ratched is ready for her next patient. So, settle in and buckle up.
Season 2 of Ratched is confirmed:-
When securing Murphy’s new project, Netflix didn’t pull its punches. For two seasons, the original order way back in 2017 was not just the one we’ve seen, but there’s certainly a second on the way. It will also boast nine episodes, much like the first. Interestingly, Paulson, who plays the titular character, told Elle.com that, while it has yet to be officially reported, there may be more on the way.
“We’re definitely doing a second season, but the intention will be to do around four seasons if we were to move on,” she revealed. “And we end up in the Cuckoo ‘s Nest era in the fourth season.”
Ratched release date for season 2:
When to expect it:– For Ratched Season 2, there is no confirmed release date and even early production plans could end up being further postponed, given the scheduling problems caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
We know that Paulson will return to work soon, more on that below, but considering that she has expressly stated that it is not on the second series of Ratched, it is fair to say that we will see Ratched Season 2 later rather than earlier.
Since filming is unlikely to begin until early next year, we will probably not see Ratched Season 2 on Netflix at the earliest until late 2021. Watch this room, though-as soon as we can, we’ll confirm the release date.
*Season 2 plot: What do we know so far?
Verily? Honestly? Not much, and that also covers the cast. Paulson recently announced that while she’s “going back to work soon,” talking to Variety, it’s “not on Ratched,” adding that “nobody knows anything about Season 2.”
Cynthia Nixon, who portrays Gwendolyn Briggs, Ratched’s love interest, said, “I’m as interested as anyone to know what will happen in season 2.” She commented in an interview with OprahMag.com that she is “positive there’s a lot of pathos and heartbreak ahead of her.”
That said, however, Paulson revealed the route she would like to see her titular character go, as well as things in subsequent series she wouldn’t like to pursue, which we suspect would take the tale of Mildred Ratched right up to the notorious events of One Flew Over the Cuckoo ‘s Nest.
Paulson told Variety, “I guess it wouldn’t have been interesting for me to explore the parts of Mildred Ratched that aren’t translucent.” She’s calcified in the film, there’s a stiffness, nothing ekes out, and I remember when I first saw the film thinking she was absolutely a villain and evil and all that things.
“And then when I looked at it before we began, I thought, you know, this is a woman who is a victim of this hospital’s patriarchal infrastructure, and it could be considered that she had no choice as to whether or not she could reach her heart in her own way, whether she could bring her femininity and her femininity to work.”
Ratched cast for season 2:those we want to see return:-
We saw the “star” patient of Lucia (Finn Wittrock) team up with patient Charlotte (Sophie Okonedo) and motel owner Louise (Amanda Plummer) at the end of Ratched Season 1 to flee the hospital and make a run for Mexico, where Mildred and her unwell husband, Gwendolyn (Nixon), had fled.
Although the ending does not confirm that in Ratched season 2, all these actors will undoubtedly reprise their roles, it certainly indicates that characters will pop up again.
We would possibly also see the reappearance of California Governor George Wilburn (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Ratched ‘s brilliant arch-rival, Nurse Bucket (Judy Davis), with fingers crossed.
However, with the two-year time jump right at the end of season 1, there is plenty of time for these characters to succumb along the way to various ailments and injuries, particularly when we ended up with that shocking and murderous revelation. Watch room like this, eh?
